She comes from a family of artists - concert pianists, opera singers, designers and painters. “I always loved color and form and the way light plays on surfaces.” Influenced by the generations of her family, her sister, a professional artist in New York, her aunt, a multitalented artist in Philadelphia and her grandfather, an artist by profession, she realizes the tremendous influence art and color have had on her life.
“I am driven by the stark, yet intimate urban landscape with its narrative of the many stories of the people who live there.”
Her paintings have been displayed in many juried competitions, accepted for juried membership in the NH Art Association as well as the Newburyport MA, Concord MA and Cambridge MA Art Associations and has been mentioned as a "daring artist" with "strongly colored landscapes" in The Weekly Dig, an arts magazine in Boston.
After hanging in the Illuminations Gallery, her painting, “Thinking Place” was purchased by Massachusetts General Hospital, selected by staff and patients at the Dana Farber Cancer Center for the cover of their patient brochures.
Paula paints exclusively in oils. Her painting, “Nashua Public Library” was purchased by the library and will hang in their new lobby. The image will be reproduced by the library for fundraising purposes and will be available on canvas bags and note cards. |
